A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE PLAY:

Jake Wood as Max Branning on BBC’s Eastenders
Home James was written by BBC Eastenders star, Jake Wood [Eastenders, The Illusionist], who is perhaps better known to American audiences as the voice of the Geico Gecko. Originally performed at The Union Theatre in London, the play which was set in Luton , Morocco and London has had a complete re-write for American audiences by Richard Mazda who reprises the roles he originated. Now set in Poughkeepsie [Luton], New York [London] and Tijuana [Marrakech] the essential plot lines are maintained with certain upgrades to some of the topical themes in this dark surreal comedy, which examines the journey of self-discovery that our protagonist, Jamie, embarks on.
SYNOPIS
Following his father’s death from bowel cancer, Jamie Beddard finds himself on a strange and surreal journey of self-discovery. He is gently pushed out of a comfortable yet banal existence in Poughkeepsie and sent to live with a cousin, Crystal, who lives in The Big Apple. During his journey he briefly re-unites with an ex, meets an extremely odd cockney barman at The Telephone Bar, hooks up on random date and then finds himself on an unexpected trip to Tijuana. In Mexico he finds love and a sketchy hotel owner, Jimmy, who asks him to take a mysterious package back to New York….
